About love and calculation in the world of people and animals
Once again, I welcome the most respected audience! And today I want to propose a new topic: about the feeling that you call the most exalted. Of course, I'm talking about love.
You Humans are sure that in animals love is just an instinct for procreation. And only you, homo sapiens, not only enjoy, but also use love sometimes as a means to get what you want. They even came up with such a name: love of convenience. Like, only your mind has enough mind to think of this.
So, I will disappoint you.
Take, for example, Penguins. I think you saw them on TV. Black and white, live in the Arctic, are somewhat similar to people (they also have a strange habit of moving on two legs).
It is believed that Penguins are wonderful family people, they raise children together, exclusively monogamous, that is, they choose a partner for life. This is so, and not so at the same time.
You probably know that they hatch the chicks in turn: the penguin sits on the nest, and the penguin gets food, then changes. It is important to note that they build nests from stones. There are a lot of stones needed - they help protect eggs from the hardships of the surrounding world - penguins still live in adverse climatic conditions. And in Antarctica, stones are a terrible shortage. Like Italian boots in the era of your prosperous socialism, even more scarce. Like dandelions in winter. In general, the product is valuable.
And now the Penguin goes on a long voyage for prey. And the Penguin at this time ... goes to the neighboring nest.Where the eggs are hatched by Another Penguin, whose girlfriend also went in search of food. And the Penguin begins to flirt with this Other Penguin. No, not to break up a family. Just as a result, satisfied with each other, they diverge. But at the same time, the Penguin takes away a stone from a neighboring house. To upgrade your nest. And sometimes, to "earn", just flirting is enough.
It looks, of course, a little selfish. But evolution has developed this mechanism so that Penguins can give offspring a start in life under harsh conditions.
And again the same question as always: are you humans so different from us? 🙂
